I pride myself on avidly researching healthier lifestyle choices, especially being of child bearing age. Protecting my fertility is very important to me. It's very difficult to find accurate information about cookware. You can't fully trust the advertising of any company. What you CAN do is ask for lab tests on their products. I also use popular blog sites such as Wellness Mama and I Read Labels For You for recent information and updates on product testing.

Admittedly, I have previously purchased Green Life pans as the Thermolon technology at face value seemed to be a good non toxic option, at least for a couple years. But that isn't very environmentally friendly is it? Then I read this:

The lawyers filed the lawsuit because of GreenPan’s claims to be “completely toxin free,” whereas (alleges the lawsuit) the patent for Thermolon lists numerous toxic chemicals that comprise it. From my own research, stainless steel and cast iron are at the top of my safe cookware list.

Cuisinart MCP-12N Multiclad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set

Not all stainless steel is created equal. Look for stainless steel with a number that looks like 18/10, 18/8 or 18/0. Stainless flatware that is 18/10 means that 18 percent is chromium and 10 percent is nickel. The higher the nickel content, the more protection the flatware has from corrosion. If the brand does not advertise the metal content, they may be using more types and higher levels of metals in the layers.

The safest stainless steel is nickel free (18/0) but is hard to find and expensive. If you have a nickel allergy you should avoid nickel in the product. I suggest you do your own research into your stainless steel options. The stainless steel set below is chosen because it's an affordable 18/10 option.

Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 5 Piece Set

Cast Iron is a non stick cookware if you treat it right. It does not leak any heavy metals or toxins into your food. It does, however leak iron, which most individuals need as a nutrient. Because each individual has different health needs, if you have too much iron already, such as with hemachromatosis, do not use cast iron.

Tips: Do not use soap! Use chainmail to clean with water and keep seasoned.
